Case Study - West Midlands Ambulance Service
The Mansfield Group are extremely proud of the working relationship our Fleet Assist team have with West Midlands Ambulance Service. On 24th February 2016, Tony Page (Fleet Manager of WMAS) and his team visited our Head Office in Stoke on Trent for a show and tell of their new command vehicle.
WMAS have developed the brand new bespoke incident command unit with the latest technology so it is able to deal with major and prolonged incidents. The vehicle is designed on 7.5 tonne Isuzu chassis, with custom slide out side pods. It contains a conference/ briefing room facility with seating for up to nine people. A seperate operational area houses two work stations with fixed PCs and pheripherals, with AIRWAVE radio and VOiP handsets. The vehicle features an external 46" interactive touch screen that is used for team briefings. It will be from the command unit at the scene, using data from its raft of equipment that real-time decisions about the handling of an incident can be made.
The visit also included a training session for all our operation centre staff on how important our recoery services are to them. All team members involved learnt that we work as a team with WMAS in order to provide a crucial service to the public, which is second to none.
It was a great informative day, and we thank WMAS for taking the time to come up and show us this incredible new vehicle and build on our successful relationship!
